Consumption Habits and Streaming Attendance of University Students in Ecuador
Digital streaming services have transformed audiovisual consumption habits. This study examines their use and relationship with attention and perceived academic performance among Ecuadorian university students. Based on an extended Technology Acceptance Model, a questionnaire was administered to 460 students aged 18–25. Reliability indicators were satisfactory (Cronbach’s α: 0.79–0.85; KMO >0.80). Results showed that 55.87% used the Internet for more than six hoursdaily, while entertainment was the primary motivation (47.83%), compared withacademic purposes (19.57%). Furthermore, 34.35% reported academicdistractions associated with streaming, and 18.70% perceived a decline inacademic performance. These findings suggest that intensive digital consumptionmay affect attention, self-regulation, and study time, highlighting the need foracademic support strategies and critical digital literacy programs.
