Affective AI has established itself as a field focused on inferring emotional responses from visual stimuli, while concern for emotional and affective development occupies a central place in current educational approaches. The aim of this article is to conduct a systematic review focused on understanding how affective computing is applied to infer emotional responses to visual content and to what extent these approaches contribute to students' emotional education. The results highlight the need to develop approaches that take into account not only technological development but also the emotional well-being of the subjects. This consideration is key to ensuring that automated emotional inference will contribute to emotional development in educational contexts.
