VISUAL Review follows a continuous publication model.

Once the maximum number of articles established for the volume corresponding to the current calendar year has been reached, accepted manuscripts that have successfully completed all stages of the editorial process are assigned to the following year’s volume, even if that year has not yet officially begun.

These articles are temporarily included in the “Advance Publication” section, allowing them to be disseminated immediately and avoiding unnecessary delays in the communication of research findings.

The articles included in this section are complete, final, and published versions. All of them have successfully undergone peer review and the corresponding stages of editorial review, copyediting, and production. They also have an active DOI and may therefore be accessed, cited, and located from the moment of their advance publication.

At the beginning of the calendar year to which they have been assigned, the articles are automatically transferred to the corresponding annual volume and displayed on the journal’s homepage as part of the current issue. At that point, they are removed from this section and placed in their permanent location within the VISUAL Review archive.

Important Citation Information

The initial online availability date displayed in certain technical metadata or external systems may correspond to the date on which the article was first published online and may therefore differ from the bibliographic year of the volume to which it has been assigned. Consequently, to cite articles included in this section correctly, readers must always use the bibliographic reference provided in the “How to Cite” section of the article’s full-text version.

This reference contains the volume, year, and other definitive bibliographic details assigned by VISUAL Review and must be used in scholarly publications, repositories, academic profiles, and research assessment systems.
